Club Handball

Handball Action PhotoPacific's handball club team was founded in 1977 and began its involvement with the Collegiate Nationals in 1981 with only two players: Fred Feil and Carl Schwend.

Since then, the Boxers have appeared in 25 consecutive Collegiate National Championships and have produced 18 national champions, 2 All-Americans, four Sportsmanship Award winners, and numerous finishes in the sport's top-four teams, including a stretch in the top-four from 1989 to 2002.

Handball Action PhotoBoxer handballers have won numerous local, state and regional championships. The 2006 Oregon State Singles Championships featured 12 current or former Boxers out of a field of 68 players. Pacific players have on several occasions won every skill-level class at a single tournament: Men's Novice, "C", "B", "A", Open, Women's Open, Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.

Many players have never played the sport before attending Pacific, but outstanding experienced players have given the Pacific team great leadership and brilliant play for more than a decade.

There is always plenty of action for handball players at Pacific University. The team has regularly scheduled practices from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, two invitational tournaments played on campus at the newly renovated courts and numerous trips to tournaments around the state and the northwest from September to May.
