wynner@pacificu.edu
Wynne Lobel is in her fifth season as Pacific’s head women’s lacrosse coach, continuing in her quest to build a competitive program in Forest Grove and enhance the popularity of the game in Oregon and the Northwest.
Lobel saw her third year Pacific program make another large step forward in 2009, leading the Boxers to a 6-7 overall record. The ledger included a winning record on their home field and a three-game winning streak that included victories over Linfield, Washington & Jefferson and North Central. Lobel also saw midfielder Lilia Lee go from a lacrosse novice to a Second Team All-Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) West Region and Second Team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District selection.
The 2009 season marked another big step in Lobel’s effort to build Pacific women’s lacrosse from the ground up. After spending one season building a team and teaching newcomers the game, Lobel led the first Pacific lacrosse on the field for the 2007 season. The program earned its first victory on Mar. 25, 2007, beating Fontbonne 12-11.
For her efforts on and off the field, her peers in the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) elected Lobel as the 2007 NCAA Division III West Region Coach of the Year. It is the second time in her career that she has earned coach of the year distinction.
Lobel has built a resume full of success in a relatively young lacrosse career. During the summer of 2009, Lobel served as a coach for the Danish National Women’s Lacrosse Team at the Women’s Lacrosse World Cup in Prague, Czech Republic. She led the team to two wins in the tournament over South Korea.
Prior to her arrival at Pacific, Lobel was the head women’s lacrosse coach for four seasons at Plymouth State College in Plymouth, N.H., leading each of her teams to Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship each season. She led the Panthers to their first NCAA Division III national tournament appearance in 2001 and led the Panthers to the second round in their 2004 campaign.
In 2001, Lobel was recognized as the New England Women’s Lacrosse Association (NEWLA) Coach of the Year, and earned Little East Coach of the Year in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In addition, she was named the NCAA Division III New England Region Coach of the Year in 2004.
After leaving Plymouth State in 2004, Lobel created and directed i-lacrosse, a summer program that included summer camps and international lacrosse playing opportunities for women.
In addition to her coaching duties, Lobel serves as Pacific’s senior woman administrator. She also serves as a coach’s education program facilitator for U.S. Lacrosse and a field director for Player’s Choice Lacrosse Camps in Massachusetts. Lobel has also served as a member of the ECAC and NCAA Division III tournament selection committees and current serves on the NCAA Division III Championships West Region Selection Committee.
Prior to Plymouth State, Lobel spent one season as an assistant coach at Boston College and spent the 1998-99 season as an assistant women’s lacrosse and field hockey coach at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass. She played four seasons of lacrosse and field hockey at Ithaca College in New York. She was selected as Ithaca’s field hockey MVP in 1992.
Lobel earned a bachelor’s degree in outdoor recreation and education from Ithaca in 1993, and earned her master’s in elementary education from Lesley College (Mass.) in 2002. Avid about anything outdoors, Lobel has completed a bicycle tour of New Zealand and Australia and completed the 100th Boston Marathon in 1996.
Katie Sheridan
Assistant Women's Lacrosse Coach
A two-sport standout in soccer and lacrosse during her collegiate career, Katie Sheridan is in her fourth season as an assistant coach with the Pacific women’s lacrosse program.
Sheridan spent four years at Plymouth State University in Plymouth, N.H., where she ranks among the top female athletes in school. As a lacrosse player, Sheridan excelled under current Pacific head coach Wynne Lobel. The three-time Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Year broke every Women's lacrosse scoring record at the school. She finished her career as the fifth all-time leading goal scorer in Division III with 270 and the seventh all-time point scorer with 363. Her two-sport efforts earned Sheridan induction into Plymouth State’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
As a soccer player, Sheridan was honored as the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2003 as she led the Panthers to the East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament berth. In 2004, Sheridan earned Plymouth State's Janet Nell Female Athlete of the Year Award.
Prior to coming to Oregon, Sheridan spent one season as the assistant women's lacrosse coach at her alma mater and one season as the varsity girls' lacrosse coach at Evergreen High School in Evergreen, Colo. She also spent the 2006 season as an assistant coach with the Pacific women’s soccer program.
In addition to her duties at Pacific, Sheridan serves as a field director for Rhino Lacrosse, a youth camp program directed by former Portland LumberJax standout Ryan Powell and coach for the Rhino Select Lacrosse team. She is also employed as a paraeducator at Roosevelt High School in Portland.
A native of West Sayville, N.Y., Sheridan graduated from Plymouth State in 2004 with a degree in physical education.

An experienced player, Tomlinson has performed a high level for over a decade at the club level. She has played since 2002 with the Breakaway post-collegiate women’s club.
