Entering into her second full season as an assistant coach with the Pacific men’s and women’s tennis programs in 2015-16 is longtime successful coach Karen Wells.
Wells joined the Pacific program after 13 years as an assistant coach with one of the top NCAA Division III women’s tennis programs. She helped build the Middlebury College (Vermont) women’s program into a perennial power on the east coast.
During her tenure, she helped the Panthers earn eight NCAA Division III national tournament appearances and a run to the 2005 NCAA semifinals. In 2009, Wells was recognized by the ITA as its Division III Northeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year.
In addition to her college coaching experience, Wells spent eight years as a coach at the Tournament Tough Tennis Camp in Florida, which was run by renowned professional coach Carlos Goffi.
Wells played her collegiate tennis at NCAA Division I James Madison University in Harrisburg, Va., where she saw action in both singles and doubles from 1986 to 1988. She graduated from Rutgers in 1994 with a degree in anthropology. She lives with her family in Portland.
