Bio

2019 will mark the sixth season at the helm of the men’s soccer program for Eric Mild. Mild was named the Boxers’ head coach in February 2014, making him the eighth men’s soccer coach in Pacific history.

Mild brings nearly two decades of coaching experience at the Division I and Division II levels to Pacific.

The 2018 season saw the Boxers earn recognition for its academic efforts including the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for a second-straight year and Robert Nurmi named CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. Nurmi also earned second team all-Northwest Conference honors for his efforts on the field.

2017 saw Pacific earn its first United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award, Matt Kimball earn his second first team all-Northwest Conference honor. Plus, Weli Alamillo and Leyton Thomassen were named second team all-conference. Alamillo and Thomassen were also recognized for their academic success by the United Soccer Coaches.

Mild was recognized as the Northwest Conference Coach of the year in 2016, after leading the Boxers to a second place finish in the final conference standings. The Boxers finished 10-6-3 overall and 8-3-3 in conference play.

In 2015, Mild’s Boxers won their final two matches of the season, including a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over George Fox in the season finale that moved Pacific into a tie for fourth place in the Northwest Conference.

In his first year at the helm in Forest Grove, Mild led the Boxers to an 8-10-1 overall record and 5-8-1 mark in conference play. Like the 2015 team, the 2014 Boxers finished the season on a high note, knocking off Puget Sound 3-2 five days before defeating rival George Fox 1-0 on an overtime goal from Kimball.

Mild came to Pacific after two stints as the top assistant at UC Davis, where he helped lead the Aggies in their successful transition from NCAA Division II to Division I. Mild’s second stint with UC Davis saw the Aggies qualify for the Big West Tournament four times, while also winning the Big West’s North Division in 2012.

UC Davis qualified for the NCAA Division I College Cup in 2008 and finished that season with a 13-5-4 record and a top-25 national ranking.

Mild’s first turn with UC Davis came from 1997-2001, when he served as the top assistant for the Aggies as the squad qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs for the first time in 23 years with a school-record 16 wins in 1999. The 1999 season saw UC Davis set a school record with a 13-match winning streak before winning the west region title.

In between stints at UC Davis, Mild spent seven seasons at Division II Cal State Stanislaus. Mild’s time with the Warriors included a 2006 season where Cal State Stanislaus reached the CCAA Championship tournament and posted a 10-9-2 overall record, the schools best since the 1991 season. Mild coached 11 all-conference selections at Cal State Stanislaus and the first ever all-region honoree in the program’s history.

Before entering the coaching realm, Mild played collegiately at Santa Rosa Junior College and for Division II Humboldt State. At Santa Rosa JC, Mild was an all-conference honoree. With the Lumberjacks of Humboldt State, Mild earned all-conference and all-region honors, while helping to lead his team to a Northern California Athletic Conference title.

Mild graduated from Humboldt State in 1996 with a degree in kinesiology, before earning a master’s degree in kinesiology from Sacramento State in 2002. Mild currently holds a United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ license.
