BOXERS ENTER SECOND WEEK WITH WIN UNDER THEIR BELTS
The Pacific men's basketball team started Head Coach
Tim Cleary's second season off on the right foot with a 70-54 home victory over Evergreen St. The Boxers hope to carry that momentum through Thanksgiving week as the Boxers host two more NAIA foee in Northwest Christian on Tuesday followed by Walla Walla on Saturday.

David Berney made the most of his Pacific debut, leading the Boxers with 27 points on 10 of 15 from the field and 5 of 8 from three-point range. Berney scored 16 of his 27 points in the second half.
• Junior
Charles Mosley showcased his off-season improvements as well, finishing with a double-double of 17 points and 11 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. Mosley went 7 of 15 from the field.
•
Colin Wester also provided a consistent scoring touch for the Boxers against the Geoducks, connecting for 12 points on 5 of 6 from the field to go along with two assists and five steals.
• Point guard
Andrew Beatty did his job well, contributing six assists to go along with three steals in the victory over Evergreen State.
• Tuesday's game was the first in a Pacific uniform for

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
NORTHWEST CHRISTIAN
The NAIA Division II Beacons enter the week with a 3-3 record. Northwest Christian split their games last week, falling 65-53 to Lewis & Clark on Tuesday before beating Simpson (Calif.), 88-61 on Saturday. Against the Pioneers, the Beacons sunk themselves in the first half by shooting just 6 for 27 from the field and trailed 31-19 at the break. NW Christian got within 41-39 midway through the second half, but could not complete the comeback. Brian Hampton led Northwest Christian with 18 points. The home court was much kinder for the Beacons on Saturday as they shot 55 percent from the field in trhe second half to beat Simpson (Calif.). Jordan Buhler led three Beacons in double figures with 17 points to go along with six assists. Trevor Parker leads the Beacons in scoring, averaging 12.8 points per game. Buhler averages 11 points and six rebounds per game while Hampton is averaging 10 points per game. As a team, Northwest Christian is shooting 42 percent from the field and averages 38.2 rebounds per game. Corey Anderson is in his third season as Northwest Christian head coach and also serves as the school's athletic director.

WALLA WALLA
The Wolves enter the week with a 1-8 record. Walla Walla earned its first win of the season at the Golden Rule Shootout in Nampa, Idaho on Friday as they beat Evergreen State 82-75. Mark Moore led the Wolves with 28 points, connecting on 9 of 21 from the field with six three-pointers and 11 rebounds. They went on to lose their final two games of the weekend, falling to tournament host College of Idaho 88-30 on Saturday before returning home to take a 76-67 loss to UC Santa Cruz on Sunday. The Coyotes limited the Wolves to just 15.9 percent from the field to close the tournament as Walla Walla made just seven field goals. Moore leads the Wolves with 13.1 points per game while Andrew Bailey is averaging 7.4 rebounds per contest. As a team, the Wolves are averaging 52.1 points per game and are being outscored by an average of 28 points per contest. This is first ever meeting between Pacific and Walla Walla in men's basketball. A NAIA Division II independent, Walla Walla is located in College Place, Wash., and is affiliated with the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Jimmy Hill is Walla Walla's head coach.
PACIFIC NEWS & NOTES
FORGOTTEN NO LONGER: David Berney (Jr., Portland, Ore.) was inadvertently left off the game program for Pacific's season opener with Evergreen State, bue he insured that he would not be forgotten again. Berney led Pacific with an outstanding performance in his first game in a Pacific uniform in the Boxers to a 70-54 win over Evergreen State. Berney finished with 27 points on 10 of 15 from the field and 5 of 8 from three-point range in the victory. Berney connected for 16 of his 27 in the second half to help the Boxers pull away. Berney, a native of Eugene and a graduate of Marist High School, transferred to Pacific from the University of Portland. The 2008-09 Class 4A Player of the Year, Berney saw his attempt at a Division I basketball career stunted by a knee injury before his freshman season.
PLAYING BIGGER THAN HE IS: An offseason of hard work appears to have paid off for guard/forward
Charles Mosley (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.), who played a key role in Pacific's victory over Evergreen State. Mosley compiled the Boxers' first double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds, connecting on 7 of 15 from the field. Mosley also added three assists. Mosley has worked his way into the starting role early. Mosley played in all 25 games and started eight games in his sophomore season. He averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
SOLID SHOOTING: Pacific put their first win in the books thanks to solid shooting. The Boxers finished shooting 54.9 percent from the field, connecting on 28 of 51. The Boxers also went a respectable 6 of 13 from three-point range. Although just one game in, the Boxers enter the week ranked second in the NWC with a .549 field goal percentrage and third in three-point shooting at 46.2 percent.
NO CHANGING OF THE GUARDS: Pacific will benefit the entire season from a pair of talented and experienced guards operating the offense.
Andrew Beatty (Sr., Lakewood, Wash.) excelled at point guard for the Boxers in the victory over Evergreen State. While not scoring, Beatty dished out six assists and had three steals while also pulling down three rebounds.
Colin Wester (Jr., Sherwood, Ore.) put together a strong performance at the shooting guard, connecting for 13 points on 5 of 6 from the field and a three-pointer to go along with six rebounds, two assists and five steals. Beatty, who transferred to Pacific last year from Skagit Valley CC, started 24 of 25 games for the Boxers in 2010-11 and averaged 7.4 points per game while leading the Boxers with 62 assists. Wester started 21 of 25 games for the Boxers in 2010-11, averaging 12.5 points per game. Wester ranked in the conference's top-10 in free throw shooting, averaging 79.4 percent from the stripe.
WELCOME NEWCOMERS: Tuesday's game was the first minutes for four players in a Pacific uniform. In addition to
David Berney,
Joey Burns (Fr., Hermiston, Ore.),
Marc Eppinger (Fr., Camas, Wash.) and Dustin Boswer (Jr., Bellingham, Wash.) all saw minutes. Both Berney and Bowser were in the Boxers' starting five.

BOXERS TO AIR ALL NORTHWEST CONFERENCE GAMES: Once again this season, Pacific will air all 16 men's and all 16 women's Northwest Conference games on the Internet. Live audio webcasts will be available for home and away league contests at www.goboxers.com/webcasts. Matt Richert enters his second year calling Pacific basketball after two seasons as the Boxers' football radio voice. Richert also serves as Pacific's assistant sports information director.
PACIFIC PICKED NINTH IN NWC PRESEASON POLL: Northwest Conference coaches have picked Pacific to finish ninth in the league this season according to results of the annual coaches poll, released on October. The Boxers received 10 of a possible 80 votes in the poll. Coaches voted for all teams but their own. Whitworth, under new head coach Matt Logie, was picked to win third straight NWC title. The Pirates earned six first place votes and a total of 67 points. Up-and-coming Whitman was picked second, earning three first place votes and 61 points.
