WALLA WALLA, WASH. – After a momentary setback, it was back to business as usual for the Pacific women's basketball team.
The Boxers bounced back in a big way from their first loss of the season.
Heather Hitch (Jr., Enumclaw, Wash.) scored 12 points to lead the Boxers in scoring for the second consecutive game in an 86-43 non-conference victory at Walla Walla University Sunday.
With the win, the Boxers improved to 6-1 and improved their road record to 3-0.
Pacific forced 24 turnovers and held the Wolves to 30 percent shooting. The Boxers have forced at least 20 turnovers in all six of their victories this season.
Hitch, a transfer from Highline Community College in in Des Moines, Wash., went 6 for 9 from the floor and was one of three Pacific players with seven rebounds. The Boxers dominated the glass, outrebounding Walla Walla 52-27.
Johanna Uribe scored 13 points to pace the Wolves (0-12), who trailed Pacific 42-22 at halftime.
Olivia Cook (Fr., Beaverton, Ore.) finished with a season-high 11 points for the Boxers, while
Erica Schultz (Sr., Medford, Ore.) scored nine points with five rebounds and four steals.
Kandice McArthur (Sr., Post Falls, Idaho) and
Nani Ostrom (Fr., Juneau, Alaska) added eight points each, while combining to dish out 13 of Pacific's 21 assists.
The Boxers shot 49 percent from the field and hit eight three-pointers in 22 attempts (36 percent), while holding Walla Walla to 0 for 12 from beyond the arc.
All 13 players on the roster entered the game and 12 scored for the Boxers, who return to action on Dec. 19 at the Daytona Beach Shootout in Daytona, Fla. Pacific will face Hamline (St. Paul, Minn.) University at 4:00 p.m. before taking on Lakeland (Fla.) on Dec. 21, also at 4:00 p.m.
