Neal's Hat Trick Helps Lead Boxers to Win

PORTLAND, Ore.—The Pacific men's soccer team opened the season in a high scoring thriller to defeat the Warner Pacific Knights 4-3 Wednesday night at David Douglas High School.
The Knights (0-2) struck first when Tyber Parson found the goal in the sixth minute . Pacific (1-0) senior Avery Neal (Los Alamos, N.M.) followed with two goals of his own in the ninth and 38th minutes, off of assists by Patrick Murray (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.) and Sean Mills (Sr., Seattle, Wash.).
The Boxers went into the half with a 2-1 advantage. They scored two goals off of five shots in the first half while holding the Knights to one goal off of seven shots.
Neal opened the second half with another goal in the 55th minute, notching his first career hat trick, and giving Pacific a 3-1 lead. Warner Pacific came storming back with two goals of their own off the foot of Tarik Subasic in the 59th and 71st minutes, respectively, tying the game at 3-3.
With less than eight minutes to play, Kizamu Tsutakawa (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) scored the game-winning goal for the Boxers on a penalty kick. The Pacific defense then held the Knights to secure the 4-3 victory.
The Boxers return to the field on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. against Trinity Lutheran in Everett, Wash.
