SANTA CRUZ, CALIF.—Pacific men's soccer team wrapped up their non-conference schedule in a double overtime 0-0 tie against the UC Santa Cruz Banana Slugs.

Defense was the key to the match for both teams. Nothing was able to squeeze by the Boxer's goalkeeper Andrew Stevermer (Sr., Gillette, Wyo.) or the Banana Slug's goalkeeper Matt Pereira in the 110 minutes of play. Both goalies kept zeros on the board with four saves apiece.

Pacific's defense held the UC Santa Cruz offense to 10 shots in the match, while the Boxer's offense was able to get off 12 shots. Jorge Mandujano (So., Cornelius, Ore.) led Pacific with three shots and two shots on goal.

“It was a good competitive game and we played well today,” states head coach Jim Brazeau. “It was a good game to prepare us for Whitworth this Friday.”

Pacific opens the Northwest Conference schedule at Lincoln Park Stadium at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Whitworth, the NWC defending champions.
