Boxers Battle To Tie In Double Overtime

TACOMA, WASH.—The Puget Sound Loggers' defense was ready to challenge the #11 Pacific Boxers in the Northwest Conference match. The teams battled to a 0-0 tie in double overtime.
The Pacific (8-0-2) offense played strong for the 110 minute match, but was unable to find the net.
In the first half, the Boxers outshot the Loggers (5-2-4) 5-1, including a four minute and 38 second period where they got off four consecutive shots. Mike Iacolucci (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) and Patrick Murray's (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.) shots were blocked by the Puget Sound defense. Kizamu Tsutakawa (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) missed wide right and Sean Mills (Sr., Seattle, Wash.) followed by missing wide left.
The score was 0-0 at intermission and neither team had taken a shot on goal.
The second half was another display of Puget Sound's tough defense. Pacific outshot the Loggers 11-0, but could not get the ball past Puget Sound goalkeeper Chris McDonald. McDonald made two saves to keep the Boxers from scoring and keeping the score 0-0 at the end of regulation.
In the first overtime period, Puget Sound outshot Pacific 1-0 and made their only shot on goal, but Andrew Stevermer (Sr., Gillette, Wyo.) made the save to prevent the Logger goal.
Pacific outshot Puget Sound 2-0 in the second overtime period, but again failed to find the net. Mills missed a shot high in the 101st minute and Avery Neal (Sr., Los Alamos, N.M.) also missed high in the 109th minute.
After the completion of 110 minutes of play the match ended in a 0-0 tie.
Mills led the Boxers with five shots and one shot on goal. Neal, Tsutakawa, Iacolucci and Jasem Jahouni (Sr., Portland, Ore.) each added two shots.
The Boxers will stay in Tacoma, Wash. tomorrow to face Pacific Lutheran at 2:30 p.m.
