ASHLAND, ORE. – A three-goal first half lifted the Hope International Royals past the Pacific women's soccer team 3-0 Saturday.

The Royals (2-2-0) scored three minutes into the game on a goal by Jenny Ciufo. A minute later Katie Sanger was able to control a loose ball in front of the net and score a second goal for Hope International. Less than a minute before the end of the half Ciufo found the goal again, sending the Royals into the half with a 3-0 advantage.

Pacific's (0-2-1) defense was able to hold Hope International in the second half, but the offense never found its stride. The Boxers never had a shot on goal and were outshot 16-4 in the match by the Royals.

Pacific goalkeeper Brittany Hartmann (So., Portland, Ore.) made seven saves.

"We couldn't string anything together in the first half," said assistant coach Dane Christian. "We made some adjustments in the second half and it went better."

The Boxers return to the field in Ashland again tomorrow at 1 p.m. to take on the hosts, the Southern Oregon Raiders.
