Box Score

PARKLAND, WASH.—The Boxer women's soccer team found an offensive spark to score a season high three goals to help them to defeat the Pacific Lutheran Lutes 3-1 in the Northwest Conference match-up.

Pacific (3-5-1) struck first in the 20th minute with a goal off the foot of Tianna Homad (Jr., Seattle, Wash.) off a pass by Kaitlyn Harper (So., Oregon City, Ore.). The Boxer defense prevented Pacific Lutheran (1-8-0) from having a shot on goal during the first 45 minutes.

The Boxers were outshot by the Lutes 6-5 in the first half, but took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, Pacific found the goal two more times before Pacific Lutheran could answer. Ashley Kanda (Sr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) scored her first goal of the season when she headed in a pass from Teri Shigeno (Jr., Meridian, Idaho) in the 51st minute. Jenny Novak (Sr., Dexter, Ore.) found the net again for Pacific in the 58th minute, unassisted, to give Pacific the 3-0 advantage.

The Lutes answered with a goal in the 60th minute by Brittney Bronson to make the score 3-1. The Boxer defense did not allow Pacific Lutheran another goal in the final 20 minutes of the match to seal the 3-1 victory.

Homad led the Boxers with four shots and three shots on goal, Kanda added two shots and one shot on goal.

The Boxers will face Lewis & Clark tomorrow at noon at Griswold Stadium in Portland, Ore.
