WALLA WALLA, Wash.-- Despite having a slow start against the Whitman Missionaries, the Boxers were able to score two goals and battle the Missionaries to a 2-2 draw after 110 minutes of play.

"We had a slow start, but battled," said head coach Morgan Crabtree. "We put away chances we had created to score."

Battle they did. Pacific (5-7-3) found themselves in the fifth overtime match of the season, fourth double overtime match. The defense stayed strong and prevented Whitman (5-9-1) from scoring in the final 10 minutes of regulation and both overtime periods.

The first half of the match neither team was able to score, but in the second half, both teams were able to find the goal on two occasions.

Trisha Tengan (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii) broke the 0-0 tie by squeezing the ball past the goalkeeper in the 51st minute. MacKenzie Hughes responded with a goal for the Missionaries in the 73rd minute to tie the game again 1-1.

Two minutes later, Ashley Kanda (Sr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) dribbled through the Whitman defenders and found the upper right corner of the goal to give Pacific a 2-1 lead. The lead lasted for five minutes until the Missionaries' Marisa Poorboy put the ball past Pacific goalkeeper Brittany Hartmann (So., Portland, Ore.) in the 80th minute to tie the match at 2-2.

The score remained 2-2 through the final thirty minutes of play, ten minutes of regulation and an additional 20 minutes of overtime, to end in a tie.

Hartmann made seven total saves for Pacific.

"It was a good game to regain our confidence," states Crabtree. "We got stronger on the attacking side of the ball."

The Boxers will travel to Spokane, Wash. tomorrow to take on the Whitworth Pirates at noon.
