CLAREMONT, Calif.—The Pacific men's opened their spring break trip dropping a match to the Salisbury Sea Gulls 6-3.
The Boxers (5-3) claimed one doubles victory and two singles wins, but did not have enough momentum to overcome the Sea Gulls (6-2).
The No. 3 doubles team of Alen Suklje (Fr., Portland, Ore.) and Patrick Kinghorn (Sr., Salem, Ore.) defeated Giorgio Athans and Justin Smith 8-6 to give Pacific their only doubles victory.
In singles play, Troy Zuroske (Fr., Richland, Wash.) stayed undefeated by claiming a 7-5, 6-2 win over Andrew Nottage at the No. 1 position. Michael Okada (Jr., Hilo, Hawaii) won the final match for Pacific, defeating Daniel Barnas 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 3 spot.
“Regardless of the loss, we feel that we gained some great experience today and took another step in our development as a program,” said head coach Brian Jackson

“We know that we can play with some of the top teams in the country, but also know that we must bring our intensity from the first point and sustain throughout the match to be successful.”

The Boxers will play Trinity (Conn.) tomorrow at 9 a.m. in Claremont, Calif. and head to Orange, Calif. in the afternoon to play Chapman at 2 p.m.
