Boxers Make Quick Work of Final Spring Break Opponents

TUCSON, Ariz.—In their final day at the Tucson Invitational, the Boxers claimed to more victories. Pacific defeated McPherson 10-2 in six innings and Calvin 17-0 in five innings.
Rylee Parke (Fr., Dufur, Ore.) went the distance for Pacific (16-7) against McPherson (11-13), pitching six innings, allowing just six hits and striking out seven en route to collecting her tenth win of the season.
As in all the games during the Tucson Invitational, the Boxers were the first to get on the scoreboard. Pacific scored three runs in the in the first and second innings and a single run in the third inning before McPherson got two runs in to cut the Boxer lead to 7-2. Pacific was kept off the board until the bottom of the sixth inning, when Chelsey Chamberlain's (Jr., Grants Pass, Ore.) hit drove in three runs to end the game 10-2.
Along with pitching, Parke came up big for Pacific offensively. The freshman hit a three-run home run and a double and tallied five runs batted in.
In the final game in Tucson, the Boxers scored early and often. Pacific scored five runs in the bottom of the first and second innings, four in the third and three in the fourth. The Boxers kept Calvin from scoring a run to complete the 17-0 shutout in five innings.
Chamberlain and Jordan Mittelsdorf (Jr., Boardman, Ore.) paced the Boxer's offensive attack with a home run apiece and four RBIs. Chamberlain was 2 for 2 at the plate and Mittelsdorf was 2 for 3 and also hit a double.
Chamberlain made the start in the circle, pitching three innings, striking out six Calvin batters and walking just one. Shannon Miller (Fr., Vancouver, Wash.) pitched the final two innings. In her relief effort, Miller struck out four and allowed no hits.

The Boxers will be back in action on Saturday against Northwest Conference foe, Lewis & Clark in Portland, Ore. at noon.
