Pacific Loses Battle to Salisbury

CLAREMONT, Calif.—The Pacific women's team met the Salisbury (Md.) Sea Gulls in the second match of their spring break trip and battled to a 5-4 loss to the Sea Gulls.
Pacific (2-6) won the top two flights in doubles and singles, but dropped the rest to Salisbury (4-1).
In the top doubles position, Cat Goya (Jr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Megan Yoshimoto (Jr., Mililani, Hawaii) defeated Jillian Poppe and Angela Tenaglia 8-6. Stephanie Velligas (Sr.,Waimanalo, Hawaii ) and Rachel Mizuno (So., Mililani, Hawaii) combined at the No. 2 spot to defeat Victoria Handlin and Elaina Iosue 8-2.
Individually, Goya and Yoshimoto claimed wins. Goya defeated Poppe 6-2, 6-3 at the No. 1 spot and Yoshimoto beat Iosue 6-3, 6-1 at No.2.
The Boxers will continue their spring break play tomorrow against Whittier in Whittier, Calif. At 3 p.m.
