Boxers Come Up Short Against Wildcats

McMINNVILLE, Ore.—The Pacific women's tennis team could not power their way past Northwest Conference rival, Linfield, and lost 8-1.

Pacific (1-2, 1-2 NWC) dropped three straight doubles matches to Linfield (5-1, 5-0 NWC). The closest doubles match was at the No. 1 position with Cat Goya (Jr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Megan Yoshimoto (Jr., Mililani, Hawaii) dropping an 8-4 decision to Sarah Click and Abby Olbrich.

In singles play, Pacific had a lone win. Yoshimoto scored the only point for the Boxers at the No. 2 spot. She defeated Lexi Thomas 7-5, 6-7 (6-3), 6-2.

Other individual battles for Pacific were at the No. 1 spot, where Goya fell in a three set match to Abby Olich 7-6 (6-4), 3-6, 6-3. The Wildcats won the remaining flights in two set victories over the Boxers.

Pacific will be home tomorrow, for their first season matches, at Holce Tennis Courts against George Fox. The match is set to start a 1 p.m.
