SPOKANE, Wash. – Pacific's Aaron Koford (Fr., Wilsonville, Ore.) and Kasey Fisher (So., Denair, Calif.) stand in position to score some points as both competitors lead the Boxers after day one of the Northwest Conference Multi-Event Championships, being held at Whitworth University's Boppell Track.

Koford, Pacific's lone competitor in the men's decathlon, ended the first five events in seventh place with a total of 2,924 points. Fisher, one of two Boxers competing the women's heptathlon, also finished the first day in sixth place with a score of 2,204 points. Chloe Hallyburton (So., Dayton, Ore.) completed the first day of the heptathlon in 10th place with a total of 1,784 points.

Fisher showed great improvement on the first day over her effort at the Mar. 12 Pacific Preview, tallying nearing 300 points more on Monday. She finished sixth in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.45 seconds before tying Willamette's Brandi Miller for fifth in the high jump at 4 feet, 6 inches. Fisher was also sixth in the shot put at 28 feet, 1 inch before closing the day finishing ninth in the 200 meters in 28.05 seconds.

Koford also showed improvement over his March performance, finishing 46 points better than he did at the Pacific Preview. He opened the day with a second place finish in the 100 meters in a time of 11.49 seconds and followed that up with a sixth place finish in the long jump at 19 feet, 9 inches. Koford returned to finish third in the shot put at 35 feet, 3.25 inches before placing 10th in the high jump at 5 feet, 3.25 inches and 10th in the 400 meters in 55.60 seconds.

Hallyburton had her strongest effort in the heptathlon's second event, the high jump, placing fourth with a mark of 4 feet, 7 inches. She finished 10th in the 100-meter hurdles (18.45 seconds), the shot put (23-8.75) and the 200 meters (30.05).

Competition continues on Tuesday, with the first event scheduled to start at 9 a.m. The decathlon will finish with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 meters. The heptathlon will feature the long jump, javelin and 800 meters. Points scored in the meet will carry over to the Northwest Conference Championships, which take place Apr. 22 and 23 at Linfield's Maxwell Field.
