SALEM, Ore.—The Pacific men's tennis team fell short at Willamette and dropped the Northwest Conference match 5-4.
Pacific (5-7, 4-4 NWC) won two of three doubles matches over Willamette (9-5, 8-1 NWC), while the Bearcats took four of six singles matches from the Boxers.
Michael Okada (Sr., Hilo, Hawaii) and Scott Kawamura (So., Aiea, Hawaii) picked up the first Boxer win in the No. 2 spot by defeating Joshua Wong and Cody Ferguson 8-5. Alen Suklje (Fr., Portland, Ore.) and Patrick Kinghorn (Sr., Salem, Ore.) added another Pacific win by beating Will Cooper and Garrett Vincent 8-6 in the No. 3 position.
In singles play, the bottom on the line-up was strong for the Boxers. Suklje took Cooper in two sets 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 5 flight and Derek Cooley (Fr., Vancouver, Wash.) beat Vincent in three sets 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0 at the No. 6 spot.
Troy Zuroske (Fr., Richland, Wash.) lost to Michael Baumgartner in a two-set battle 7-6 (9-7), 7-6 (7-3) in the No. 1 position to suffer his first NWC loss. 

The Boxers will host No. 20 Whitman at Holce Tennis Courts on Saturday at 11 a.m.
