GRESHAM, Ore. – Jenna Matsumoto (Jr., Kailua, Hawaii) posted a two-second personal best in the 400-meter hurdles Saturday, leading the performances of a select group of Pacific athletes at the Mt. Hood Track & Field Festival at Earl Klapstein Stadium.

Matsumoto finished third in a time of 1:06.24, cutting two seconds off of her previous season and personal best, set two weeks ago at the Northwest Conference Championships. The effort also ranks as the third best effort in the event in school history.

Vince Mull (So., Beaverton, Ore.) finished second in the 100 meters to lead the Pacific men. His time of 11.07 seconds was just three-hundreds of a second behind winner Dusty Jarvis of Lane CC and was just short of his personal best of 11.02 seconds. Avery Neal (Jr., Los Alamos, N.M.) ran his second best time of the season in the 800 meters less than 24 hours after running the event at the Oregon Twilight. Neal placed seventh in a time of 1:57.36.

Nicole Smith (Sr., Wailuku, Hawaii) finished sixth in the 100 meters in a time of 12.91 seconds and Jilinda Franklin (So., Fort Jones, Calif.) placed eighth in the 5,000 meters in a time of 19:39.74.

Pacific athletes will have one last chance to earn qualifying marks for the NCAA Division III Championships. The regular season concludes with the George Fox Last Chance meet on May 20 in Newberg.
