FOREST GROVE – Claremont-Mudd-Scripps dominated action on their offensive end Friday night and limited Pacific's production as the Stags scored a 3-0 shutout of the Boxers in men's soccer action at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Stags (1-1-0) outshot the Boxers 17-4 on the night and limited the home team to just two shots on goal, one in each half. Claremont also earned themselves eight corner kicks in the contest.

The Boxers (0-3-0) did not help their own cause to open match, giving the Stags their first goal in the fifth minute with an own goal. In an attempt to clear a hard-charge from Claremont, Kody Ganiko (Jr., Makawao, Hawaii) headed the ball back to Pacific goalie Chris Reimer (So., Ferndale, Wash.) to reset the play. Reimer could not handle the ball as it rolled into the far corner of the net.

It did not take long from there for the Stags to start putting the ball in the net on their own. Jared Bernstein connected unassisted in the 13th minute, moving around a pair of Pacific defenders to fire away to the far post from just inside the 18-yard box. Bernstein then contributed to Claremont's third goal in the 24th minute, hooking a pass into Harrison Doyle who connected from the top of the six-yard box.

Claremont controlled the offense in the first half, outshooting the Boxers 8-2. Pacific did not get their first shot on goal until the 44th minute when Antonio Madeddu (Jr., Milwaukie, Ore.) fired off a shot from just inside the 18-yard box that went right to the hands of Claremont goalkeeper Frederick Doar.

Despite play a man down after defender Jack Wickward (Sr., Portland, Ore.) was issued his second yellow card in the 45th minute, the Boxers came out with some renewed fire to open the second half. Even still, the Boxers could not mount much in the way of chances. Ian Farley (Fr., Spokane, Wash.) had the Boxers only second half shot on goal, rifling an attempt from 15 yards out that went right into the hands of substitute goalie Tim Park.

Claremont's best second half scoring chance came in the 74th minute as Doyle once again wound his way through two Pacific defenders to have a good look at an attempt at the near post from 13 yards away. Substitute Pacific goalie Michael Summers (So., Beaverton, Ore.) got his feet on the ball to make a diving stop as the ball popped off of his feet and into his hands.

Summers made four saves as he played the final 45 minutes for the Boxers. Reimer made one stop in the first half. Doar and Park finished with one save each for the Stags.

The Boxers will look for their first win of the season on Sunday as they host Trinity Lutheran. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps will play Whitworth in a neutral site match at Lincoln Park Stadium on Sunday at noon.
