Bodily's Late Goal Leads Boxers To 3rd Straight Win
Box Score
TACOMA, Wash. – Senior midfielder
Jordan Bodily's goal with just over 10 minutes to play lifted the Pacific women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Montclair State.
Despite being outshot 16-7 by the Division III Red Hawks, the Boxers recorded their second straight shutout win thanks to junior goalkeeper
Brittany Hartmann's eight saves.
After a fairly even first half, Montclair State (3-1-0) outshot the Boxers 8-0 over the first half of the second stanza, but Hartmann (Portland, Ore.) repelled four shots on goal during that span.
Then, in the 79th minute,
Bryanna DeLima (Sr., Hilo, Hawaii) fed the ball to Bodily (Eagle, Idaho), who fired in a shot from just outside the penalty box for her first goal of the season.
The Red Hawks, who outscored Mount St. Vincent 8-0 in their last match, had three more shots on goal in the final ten minutes, but Hartmann held the line and notched her 10th career shutout, recording two more saves than in her previous two matches combined.
Montclair State outshot Pacific 12-2 in the second half with a 7-3 edge in shots on goal, but lost its first match after three straight wins to start the season.
The match was played at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, where the Red Hawks will take on the Lutes Saturday in the second game of their west coast sojourn.
Pacific will carry a perfect 3-0 mark into its next matchup, a road contest against highly regarded NAIA Concordia (Ore.) on Sunday, September 11 at noon. The Boxers open Northwest Conference play at home against George Fox on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.
