Bearcats Roll Past Boxers

FOREST GROVE – The Pacific men's soccer team couldn't find the back of the net as the Willamette Bearcats shutout the Boxers 3-0 in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.
The Bearcats (7-6-1, 4-4-1 NWC) opened the scoring in the first half in the 39
th minute when Mike McGrew and Tyler Yates combined for the assist to Austin Jacobson. Jacobson shot from 10 yards out on the right side of the field to the left corner of the goal past
Michael Summers (Jr., Portland, Ore.).
The Boxers opened up an opportunity before halftime in the 44
th minute when
Kody Ganiko (Sr., Makawao, Hawaii) fired to the goal, but the shot was saved by Willamette goalkeeper Brayden Calder.
Willamette would increase their lead to 2-0 in the 62
nd minute when Trevor Jensen crossed to Yazan Hishmeh, who dribbled from 35 yards out on the lefts side, firing low from inside the 18-yard box.
The Bearcats would cap the scoring in the 82
nd minute when Austin Jacobson took control of the ball on a breakaway and shot from 10-yards out to end the match at 3-0.
Alex Arrington (So., Portland, Ore.) led the Boxers with four shots.
Quintin Love (Fr., Kailua, Hawaii) collected two shots. Summers (4-10-0) took the loss in the pipes, tallying two saves. Calder collected the victory after coming out in the 58
th minute. Calder was replaced by Bradley Eckerson. Calder collected three saves, while Eckerson tallied one.
The Boxers (4-10-0, 2-7-0 NWC) travel to eastern Washington to take on Whitman and Whitworth. Both matches will begin at 2:30 p.m.
