Boxers Score Late In Loss To Pirates

SPOKANE, Wash. – Babeck Ebadpour (So., Fairbanks, Alaska) scored his first goal of the season, but was not enough in 3-1 loss to Whitworth Sunday afternoon at Whitworth's soccer field.
 
In the 87th minute, Garrick Knowles (So., Roseburg, Ore.) took the corner kick for the Boxers. Knowles found Ebadpour, who fired to the back of the net, past Whitworth goalkeeper Kyle Novak.
 
Whitworth (11-0-3, 8-0-2 NWC) opened the scoring in the 15th minute. Andrew French's shot was rebounded off the post and was put back in by Robby Ubben.
 
In the 29th minute, French would increase the Pirate lead to 2-0 when Samuel Engle crossed to French from the left side. French would fire a shot to find the back of the net.
 
Whitworth would cap their scoring in the 53rd minute when Kekoa Mountcastle crossed from inside the box to Karl Muelheims, who fired past Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.).
 
The Boxers only shot four times for the match. In the first half, the Boxers had their best opportunity in the 38th minute when Alex Arrington (So., Portland, Ore.) shot wide. Just two minutes later, Quintin Love (Fr., Kailua, Hawaii) fired, but was ruled high.
 
Luis Quintana (Jr., Quilcene, Wash.), Ebadpour, Arrington, and Love, all led the Boxers with one shot apiece. Summers (4-11-0) collected the loss between the pipes, tallying four saves. Kyle Novak collected his tenth victory in the net with no saves.
 
The Boxers (4-11-0, 2-8-0 NWC) continue their eastern Washington trip playing Whitman tomorrow. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
