Boxers Snap Losing Streak With Victory Over Whitman

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – After going four games without scoring a goal,
McKenna Davidson (Fr., Kailua, Hawaii) scored the game-winning goal to help the Pacific women's soccer team claim a 1-0 victory over Whitman in Northwest Conference soccer action on Sunday afternoon at the Whitman soccer field.
In the 81
st minute, the ball was shot off Whitman goalkeeper Emily Davis and put into the feet of Davidson, who fired to the back of the net to score her third goal of the season and her second game-winner.
In the first half, the Missionaries outshot the Boxers 9-3. In the 6
th minute,
Sarah Tuffey (Sr., Valencia, Calif.) attempted to score the first goal of the match, but was high. In the 15
th minute,
Kailee Green (So., Hillsboro, Ore.) fired to the pipes, but was saved by Davis.
After the Boxer goal, Pacific handled the offense the rest of the way, giving the Missionaries only one shot, which was blocked.
Kristen Dick (Sr., Auburn, Wash.) shot twice for the Boxers, with one being saved by Davis and the other blocked.
Anna Richardson (So., Napa, Calif.) led the Boxers with three shots. Dick and
Emily Tuffey (So., Valencia, Calif.) recorded two shots apiece.
Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) (5-5-3) collected the victory between the pipes, tallying three saves. Davis took the loss in the net with five saves.
The Boxers (6-7-3, 3-8-1 NWC) return home to Lincoln Park Stadium for their final home matches of the season next weekend on Oct. 27 and 28. The Boxers host Pacific Lutheran and Linfield. Both of the matches start at noon.
