Box Score
FOREST GROVE – Sisters
McKenna Davidson (Fr., Kailua, Hawaii) and
Kayla Davidson (Jr., Kailua, Hawaii) helped the Boxers earn their sixth shutout on the season claiming a 2-0 victory over Pacific Lutheran on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.
“Kayla and McKenna had fantastic performances on either end of the pitch with the shutout and a goal, respectively,” said Associate Head Coach Dane Joseph. “They both thoroughly deserved it for all their hard work and positive attitude this season.”
The Boxers opened the scoring the 53
rd minute as
Sarah Tuffey (Sr., Valencia, Calif.) crossed from seven yards out to an open
McKenna Davidson on the right side of the goal. Davidson fired past Pacific Lutheran goalkeeper Marisa Gonzalez.
“Between Sarah's dribbling ability, Kristen's intelligent positioning and McKenna's hard work on and off the ball, we were able to take the game to them,” said Joseph. “Of course, it's a team effort, and the backline and midfield foundation set the platform for success.”
The Boxers would score again in the 78
th minute, when Chandler Bown (So., Silverdale, Wash.) dribbled from five yards out and shot past Gonzalez to cap the scoring at 2-0.
Kayla Davidson earned her second shutout of the season between the pipes in just her fourth appearance, tallying seven saves.
McKenna Davidson led the Boxers with four shots. Gonzalez took the loss in the net for the Lutes, collecting four saves.
“It's always a good day when we win; a win in style is even better,” said Joseph. “We were especially proud of their execution of the practice plan from this week. The goals were well-coordinated and finished with aplomb.”
The Boxers (7-7-3, 5-7-1 NWC) will play their final home matches tomorrow against a tough Linfield squad. The Boxers will acknowledge the four seniors before the match. The match begins at noon.
