Loggers Score Two To Shutout Boxers

FOREST GROVE – Ian Farley (So., Spokane, Wash.) led the Pacific men's soccer team with five shots as the Boxers could not find the back of the net in 2-0 loss to Puget Sound in Northwest Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.
 
Puget Sound (11-3-5, 7-2-4 NWC) opened the scoring in just the second minute of the match, when Colin McIntosh and Chris Shaw both assisted to Andrew White off the Logger corner. White fired from two yards out past Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) to take an early 1-0 lead.
 
The Boxers had two opportunities to score in the 10 minute mark. Mark Watson (So., Clackamas, Ore.) and Kody Ganiko (Sr., Makawao, Hawaii) both fired shots, but Watson's was blocked and Ganiko's shot was wide of the net.
 
The Boxers would have two more scoring opportunities in the 26th minute of the match when Mason Nakama (Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii) and Nick Rudella (Jr., Sammamish, Wash.) both fired shots towards the net, but came up high and wide.
 
The Loggers would score the final goal in the 27th minute when Sean Ryan dribbled from six yards out and fired from the far right of the field past Zach Cohen (Jr., Grafton, Calif.).
 
The Boxers collected 21 shots for the match with nine coming in the second half. The best scoring opportunity in the second half came in the 52nd  minute. Farley fired once, but was blocked. Farley fired again but was wide of the net.
 
Garrick Knowles (So., Roseburg, Ore.) collected three shots for the Boxers. Summers (4-14-0) took the loss in the net allowing one goal. Cohen came into to replace Summers in the 15th minute. Cohen collected three saves with one goal against.
 
The Boxers (4-14-0, 4-11-0 NWC) wrap up the 2012 season with their final home match against George Fox on Friday Nov. 2. The match will begin at 7 p.m.
