Box Score

FOREST GROVE – Garrick Knowles (So., Roseburg, Ore.) scored two goals off free kicks to help the Boxers claim a 2-0 victory over George Fox in their final match of the season on Friday evening at Lincoln Park Stadium.

"I thought the team played great tonight," said Head Coach Jim Brazeau. "Garrick scored two wonderful goals and the entire team worked hard for 90 minutes. We created some great scoring chances tonight and the defense was very solid."

After a George Fox foul, Knowles opened the Boxer scoring in the sixth minute of the first half when he took a free from the right side about 20 yards out to the back of the net, past George Fox goalkeeper Luis Angel Del Rio. The goal marked Knowles first goal of the season.

The same situation happened again when George Fox was called for a foul. Knowles took his second goal of the night, in the 45th minute off another free kick from 20 yards out on the right side of the field to boost the Pacific lead to 2-0.

Mark Watson (So., Clackamas, Ore.) led the Boxers with seven shots. Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) collected his third shutout of the season in the net, tallying four saves. Del Rio took the loss between the pipes, recording 10 saves with two goals allowed.

Tonight's match wrapped up the 2012 campaign for the Boxers. The match marked three seniors, Kody Ganiko (Sr., Makawao, Hawaii), Cameron Davis (Sr., Eugene, Ore.), and Antonio Madeddu's (Sr., Milwaukie, Ore.) final match.

"I'm especially appreciative of the seniors who played in their last game," said Brazeau. "They have been great team members over the past 4 years. We will miss them!"
