Women Claim Victory By One-Third Of A Point In Dual With Puget Sound
TACOMA, Wash – The Pacific women's swimming team beat the Northwest Conferene defending champions by one-third of a point after a three-way-tie in the 50-meter freestyle race, while the men fell to Puget Sound on Friday evening at Tacoma's swim club.

Amber Chase (So., Tigard, Ore.) and Puget Sound's Ava Williams all finished with a time of 29.70 in the 50-meter freestyle race to score one-third of a point more to claim victory over the Puget Sound women. The women's victory marked the first time the Boxers have beaten the Loggers. Puget Sound is the Northwest Conference defending champions from last season. The Boxers fell the Loggers in the 2011-12 campaign 109-96.
Amanda Clark (So., Olympia, Wash.) finished first in the women's 800-meter freestyle race with a time of 9:38.07. Puget Sound's Ann Barrington finished in second place with a time of 10:17.04. Clark also finished first in the 400-meter freestyle with a time of 4:44.10.
Katie Porter (So., McMinnville, Ore.) finished second in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:14.35. Porter recorded a first place finish in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 1:02.55.
Allison Clark (Sr., Keizer, Ore.) collected first place in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:32.91. Clark also finished second in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:52.66.
Stacie Struble (So., Albany, Ore.) finished in first place in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:32.74.
Kristine Valdez* (Sr., Poulsbo, Wash.) finished in second place in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:35.86.
The women picked up a first place victory in the 400-meter freestyle relay with a time of 4:13.98. They also finished second in the 400-meter medley relay with a time of 4:45.41. The Boxers won with a score of 102.66 to 102.33.
The men fell to Puget Sound with a score of 87 to Puget Sound's 115.
Dylan Cramer (Sr., Caldwell, Idaho) finished in third place in the 200-meter freestyle with a time of 2:07.02. Cramer picked up a second place finish in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:21.93.
Jack Lloyd (Fr., Portland, Ore.) finished in second place in the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 24.98. Lloyd also finished first in the 100-meter freestyle with a time of 54.17.
Michael Hargitt* (Jr., Clackamas, Ore.) first in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of 2:17.77 and
Kramer Ichimura (So., Mililani, Hawaii) finished second with a time of 2:17.87. Hargitt also picked up a first place finish in the 200-meter breaststroke with a time of 2:36.35.
Paul O'Day (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) finished in third place in the 800-meter freestyle with a time of 10:14.69.
Gavin Nash (Fr., Cottage Grove, Ore.) picked up a first place victory with a time of 4:21.34 in the 400-meter freestyle. Nash also finished second in the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:11.60.
The Boxers finished first in the 400-meter medley relay with a time of 4:06.14. Cramer, Hargitt, Ichimura and Lloyd all swam in the event. The Boxers picked up a third place finish in the 400-meter freestyle relay with a time of 4:03.50.
The Boxers head over to Pacific Lutheran tomorrow for their second dual meet of the season. The meet starts at 1 p.m.
