Porter And Newcomers Lead Boxers As Lutes Sweep Boxers In Swimming Dual
TACOMA, Wash. –
Katie Porter (So., McMinnville, Ore.) and newcomers
Gavin Nash (Fr., Cottage Grove) and
Jack Lloyd (Fr., Portland, Ore.) lead the Pacific swimming team with first places finishes, but was not enough as the Lutes defeated both the men and women on Saturday afternoon at Pacific Lutheran.
Porter finished first in two events for the Boxers. She finished with a time of 25.43 in the 50-yard freestyle and a time of 55.51 in the 100-yard freestyle.
Amanda Clark (So., Olympia, Wash.) also collected two first place finishes. Clark finished with a time of 18:39.50 in the 1650-yard freestyle and time of 5:22.43 in the 500-yard freestyle event.
Stacie Struble (So., Albany, Ore.) led the Boxers in the 200-yard freestyle with a second place finish (2:05.34). She also finished the highest for the Boxers in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.49.
Janae Sargent (Fr., Redding, Calif.) placed the highest for the Boxers in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:04.80 to secure fourth place.
Alex Bing* (So., Roseburg, Ore.) collected a first place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.25.
Allison Clark (Sr., Keizer, Ore.) finished in second place with a time of 1:13.06. Clark also picked up a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:20.92.
The women finished in second place in both of the relays for the afternoon. Sargent, Bing, Struble, and
Amber Chase (So., Tigard, Ore.) finished the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:56.41. Porter,
Amanda Clark,
Keely Craig (Jr., Federal Way, Wash.) and Chase finished the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.72.
The Boxers ended the day with a total of 89 points as they were defeated by the Lutes who finished with 117.
On the men's side, newcomers Nash and Lloyd led the Boxers with first place finishes. Nash finished the 1650-yard freestyle in first with a time of 17:23.76. Lloyd picked up first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.52. Lloyd also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.48.
Michael Hargitt* (Jr., Oregon City, Ore.) led the Boxers two events. Hargitt finished first in the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.66) and second in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.46).
The Boxers were led by
Kramer Ichimura (So., Mililani, Hawaii) in the all the freestyle events. He finished in first place in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.05. Ichimura picked up a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle (1:51.00) and secured fourth place in the 100-yard butterfly (56.89).
Dylan Cramer (Sr., Caldwell, Idaho) finished in third place in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.59. The Boxers finished in second in both relays. Cramer, Hargitt, Nash, and Lloyd finished with a time of 1:41.41 in the 200-yard medley relay.
Spencer Chandler* (So., Weiser, Idaho), Paul O'Day (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.),
Aidan Lindsey (So., Portland, Ore.) and Cramer finished the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:37.17.
The Boxers return home next week to take on Whitworth on Saturday at 6 p.m. and Whitman on Sunday at 11 a.m.
