Porter Breaks Record In Dual Loss To Whitworth

FOREST GROVE – Katie Porter (So., McMinnville, Ore.) broke the 100-yard butterfly time as both the women and men fell to Whitworth in the swimming dual at the Forest Grove Aquatic Center on Friday evening.
 
Porter collected a first place finish for the Boxers in the 100-yard butterfly with a record-breaking time of 59.49. Stacie Struble (So., Albany, Ore.) held the previous record, which she broke in 2011, with a time of 1:01.40. Porter also collected a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.82.
 
Amanda Clark (So., Olympia, Wash.) collected two first place finishes for the Boxers. She finished the 1,650-yard free style with a time of 18:10.56, her best time this season. She also finished the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.24.
 
Janae Sargent (Fr., Redding, Calif.), Amber Chase (So., Tigard, Ore.) and Struble all finished second in their events. Sargent finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.41. Chase finished the 100-yard freestyle event with a time of 55.87. Struble was right behind Porter in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:01.89.
 
Alex Bing* (Jr., Roseburg, Ore.) led the Boxers in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in third place with a time of 1:10.34. The women finished second in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:44.75. Clark, Allison Clark (Sr., Keizer, Ore.), Chase and Svea Larson (So., Albany, Ore.) all competed in the event. Sargent, Bing, Chase and Porter picked up a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:54.86. The Boxers fell to the Pirates 124-80.
 
On the men's side, Gavin Nash (Fr., Cottage Grove, Ore.), Jack Lloyd (Fr., Portland, Ore.) and Kramer Ichimura (So., Mililani, Hawaii) collected first place finishes. Nash finished first in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:58.99. Lloyd claimed victory in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.67. Ichimura finished first in the 400-yard individual medley (4:21.11) and also picked up a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly (54.84).
 
Michael Hargitt* (Jr., Oregon City, Ore.) picked up a second and third place finish to lead the Boxers. He collected the second place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:22.09 and a third place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.24. Dylan Cramer (Sr., Caldwell, Idaho) led the boxers with a second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke (55.78). Paul O'Day (Fr., Forest Grove, Ore.) led the Boxers in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a fourth place finish (18:20.43).
 
The men finished second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:40.49. Cramer, Hargitt, Nash and Lloyd all competed in the event. Spencer Chandler* (So., Weiser, Idaho), O'Day, Aidan Lindsey (So., Portland, Ore.) and Ichimura picked up a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:34.75).
 
The men were defeated by Whitworth 133-70. The Boxers will play host tomorrow to the Whitman Missionaries. Dual starts at 11:00 a.m.
