Boxers See Halftime Lead Disappear In Loss To Wolves

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – After having played the roles of the comeback kings over their last two games, Pacific found themselves on the opposite end of the equation Sunday afternoon as they dropped a 69-65 decision to Walla Walla in men's basketball action at the Winter Education Center.
The Boxers used a steady 45.5 percent performance from the field to build a 35-21 lead at halftime. Walla Walla, however, came out on fire in the second half as they shot 60 percent from the field (15-25) and 6 of 8 from three-point range to take the lead late and go on to the win.
The win was Walla Walla's first of the season and improved the NAIA Division II independent to 1-14. Pacific dropped to 4-2 on the year.
Danny Brakebush (Fr., Portland, Ore.) led the Boxers with 19 points off the bench, hitting on 7 of 11 from the field and 3 of 4 from three-point range.
Daniel Zitani (Jr., Oakland, Calif.) added 12 points and shared top honors with six rebounds with
Colin Wester (Sr., Sherwood, Ore.). Pacific finished the night shooting 42.6 percent from the field (26-61), but just 4 of 12 from three-point range and 9 of 15 from the free throw line. Pacific outrebounded the Wolves 39-29.
Tristan Greenidge led Walla Walla with 25 points, connecting on 7 of 12 from the field, 4 of 7 from three-point range and 7 of 8 from the free throw line. Tyreek Luckett added 13 points and Miguel Martinez had a game-high eight rebounds.
Pacific will take the next two weeks off from competition for final exams. The Boxers return to the floor on Mon., Dec. 17, when they play Simpson (Calif.) in Redding, Calif.
