CLAREMONT, Calif. – Jordan Mittelsdorf's (Sr., Boardman, Ore.) two-out three-run home run set the pace for Pacific to win their first game of the season Friday as the Boxers knocked off Pomona-Pitzer 6-1 in softball action at the Pomona-Pitzer Softball Field.

Mittelsdorf parlayed a two-out error by the Sagehens into three runs in the first inning before the Boxers scored one run in the second and two runs in the fourth to secure the win, all by way of the longball.  The game was called after five innings due to darkness.

Mittelsdorf finished with the one hit in three bat-bats with three runs batted in.  Nikki King (Fr., Medical Lake, Wash.) also went 1 for 3 and added two RBIs.  Seven Pacific hitters combined for the team's seven hits.  Emily Glass went 2 for 3 to lead the Sagehens.

Pacific improved to 1-1 after falling to La Verne earlier in the day.  Pomona-Pitzer dropped to 2-3 on the year.

Sagehens' pitcher Fiona Riley opened the game by coaxing Pacific's first two batters into ground outs, but Lauren Tuey (Sr., Redlands, Calif.) extended the inning when she reached on a misplay by Sagehens' second baseman Meagan Tokunaga.  Chelsey Chamberlain (Sr., Grants Pass, Ore.) singled to set the plate for Mittelsdorf, who hit the Boxers' first home run of the season.

Tuey added a solo home run in the second inning to stake the Boxers to a 4-0 lead.  King capped the day offensively when she hammered a two-run homer in the fourth.

Pomona-Pitzer managed their only run on reliever Chloe Hanson (Fr., Trail, Ore.) in the fourth.  Ashley Morello singled to open the frame and scored by way of a ground out.

Hanson earned her first collegiate win in the circle, allowing the one run on five hits with one walk and a strikeout.  Starter Shannon Miller (So., Vancouver, Wash.) allowed just one hit while going the first two innings.  Riley took the loss for Pomona-Pitzer, allowing six runs, three earned, on seven hits with a walk and a strikeout in 3.1 innings of work.

Pacific returns to action on Saturday, continuing a six-game California adventure with a twinbill at Hope International.
