FOREST GROVE – Lillian Do (Fr., Beaverton, Ore.) brought Pacific back into their match against the defending Northwest Conference Tournament champions Friday, but the Boxers could not bag the Wildcats as they preserved an unbeaten record with a 8-1 win at the Holce Tennis Courts.

Do continued a tremendous freshman season by running her record to 5-5 on the year with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lexi Thomas.

The Wildcats (8-0, 8-0 NWC), however, stayed well in control of the rest of the match to cruise by and kept their unblemished record, which included a pair of three-set efforts.  Cathlene Goya (Sr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) won her first set against Abby Olbrich, but could not prevail in a pair of tiebreakers as Olbrich collected a 3-6, 7-6 (7-6), 10-4 victory.  Caroline Brigham survived a spirited second set comeback from Megan Yoshimoto (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) to take the No. 2 singles match 6-2, 7-6 (7-2).

Kaila Nip earned a 6-2, 6-3 win over Rachel Mizuno (Jr., Mililani, Hawaii) at No. 3 while sister Kiana Nip took a 6-3, 6-0 decision at No. 5 from Kelsey Trujillo (So., Honolulu, Hawaii).  Kelly Watanabe closed things out at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 defeat of Kelsey Lack (So., Grants Pass, Ore.).

Linfield opened the afternoon with a three-set sweep of the doubles flights.  Olbrich and Brigham took an 8-1 decision from Goya and Yoshimoto at No. 1, while the sisters Nip were 8-2 winners over Do and Trujillo at No. 2.  Watanabe and Thomas completed the sweep with an 8-2 win at No. 3 over Mizuno and Amber Craviotto (Fr., Eugene, Ore.).

Despite the loss, Pacific remains in fourth place in the NWC standings at 4-4 and are 5-4 overall.  The Boxers return to action on Saturday when they host George Fox at 11 a.m.
