FOREST GROVE – The head start that Redlands got on their 2012 women's lacrosse season was evident Friday night as the Bulldogs rolled in a big first half to bulldog a Pacific team playing in just their first game of the year, 16-6, in women's lacrosse action at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Bulldogs (5-0) scored the first five goals of the game, all within the first 10 minutes, with three of those coming off of free-position opportunities.  Redlands surged to outscore the Boxers 9-2 within the first 30 minutes and limited the home team to just five shots in the period.

Carmen Taplin (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.) led Pacific's offensive attack with three goals, two of which came in the second half.  Kacey Killingbeck (So., Nampa, Idaho) and Mikalia Way (Sr., Evergreen, Colo.) each scored a goal while Amy Mayhugh (Fr., Tigard, Ore.) connected for her first collegiate goal.

Redlands spread their scoring out evenly with Megan Prickett, Jacky Claycraft, Maggie Lehr, KK McCaslin and Ashley Finke connecting for two goals apiece.  Six other players found the net once.  Redlands outshot the Boxers 41-17 and held a 30-23 advantage in ground balls and a 16-7 edge in draw controls.  The Bulldogs also connected on 7 of 12 free position opportunities.

Claycraft needed just 26 seconds to open Redlands' five-goal run to open the game, connecting on a free-position shot.  Painter closed the run the same way, hitting from the top of the fan at the 20:30 mark.  Way broke the string with Pacific's first goal of the year with 16:33 left, which also came off a free-position shot.

Taplin buried an unassisted strike at the 9:13 mark before the Bulldogs closed the stanza with three unanswered goals.  McCaslin closed the half with her unassisted goal with 23 seconds left to give Redlands a 9-2 halftime lead.

Pacific came out with a more spirited effort in the second half, with Killingbeck tallying at the 26:40 mark before Taplin connected off of Brooke Painter's (Fr., Roseburg, Ore.) assist.  Redlands responded with two more of their own before Mayhugh tallied her first goal off a free-position shot with 17:49 to go.  The Bulldogs added two more before Taplin closed out Pacific's offensive effort with a goal off of Adrienne Wilburn's (Jr., Boise, Idaho) assist with 13:13 left.

Pacific opened the 2012 season without two key parts of their game as both Kelly Stevens (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Hanna Landrus (Jr., Bend, Ore.) sat out with injuries.

Pacific will look to earn their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon as they host Puget Sound at 3 p.m.  Redlands will conclude a three-game Northwest road trip tomorrow at Linfield.
