Box Score

DALLAS, Texas – Pacific saw five plays score three goals or more Monday as the Boxers used a balanced scoring attack to blow past the University of Dallas, 19-6, in women's lacrosse action at the Univ. of Dallas Lacrosse Field.

Kelly Stevens (Jr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) led the way with five goals and an assist as the Boxers (3-4) scored 10 first half goals and allowed the Crusaders just two in the second half.  Amy Mayhugh (Fr., Tigard, Ore.) and Carmen Taplin (Jr., Hillsboro, Ore.) scored four apiece. Kasey Killingbeck (So., Nampa, Idaho) netted two goals and three assists and Melanie Niehus (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) scored two.

Pacific controlled the tempo the entire contest, outshooting Dallas 36-16 while allowing just five second half attempts.  The Boxers also held a 34-14 edge in ground balls while the Crusaders (2-5) held a 14-12 advantage in ground balls.

Mary Sallotto accounted for nearly all of Dallas' scoring with five goals.  Rose Sweeney added one goal.

Pacific opened the game by scoring five of the first six goals in the first 10 minutes.  Stevens scored the first goal just 47 seconds in and went on to connect for a hat trick by the 24:50 mark.  Killingbeck then added back-to-back strikes, both off of free-position attempts.

Sallotto scored three goals over the next 20 minutes to break up Pacific's scoring frenzy, but the Boxers all put the game away early thanks to Stevens, who added her fifth goal of the half on a free-position shot with 11:37 left in the frame.  Taplin closed the stanza with her goal off of Killingbeck's assist with two seconds left to give Pacific a 10-4 lead.

Sallotto And Sweeney each tallied goals within the first seven minutes of the second half, but a strong Pacific made sure that was all they scored.  The Boxers rattled off eight unanswered goals from the 20:37 mark on, including back-to-back strings from both Mayhugh and Killingbeck.

Ali Loeb (So., Portland, Ore.) was the winner in goal for the Boxers, making six saves in the win.  Samantha Mason made 13 saves for Dallas.

Pacific concludes their three-game southern road trip on Wednesday when they face Millsaps in Jackson, Miss.
