WALLA WALLA, Wash. – It was a harder fought match than Pacific has had against Whitman in the past, but the Missionaries proved too tough to beat on their home courts as the Missionaries swept the Boxers 9-0 in Northwest Conference women's tennis action at the Bratton Indoor Tennis Center.

The Missionaries (5-2, 4-1 NWC) started their fifth straight victory with a sweep through the doubles.  Cathlene Goya (Sr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Megan Yoshimoto (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) came closest to getting Pacific on the board, falling late to Courtney Lawless and Alyssa Roberg in a 9-7 loss in the No. 1 match.

Kelsey Trujillo (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) and Lillian Do (Fr., Beaverton, Ore.) took an 8-0 loss to Emily Rolston and Morgan Lawless at No. 2 while Rachel Mizuno (So., Mililani, Hawaii) and Amber Craviotto (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) fell 8-1 in the No. 3 match to Madison Webster and Erin Minuth.

Goya fought hard in the No. 1 singles flight against Roberg, taking just her second singles loss of the season in a 6-4, 6-1 decision.  Courtney Lawless swept past Yoshimoto at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0, while Morgan Lawless was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Mizuno at No. 3.

Kate Kunkel-Patterson scored a 6-3, 6-1 win over Trujillo at No. 4 and Rolston took a 6-3, 6-4 decision from Do at No. 5.  After losing the first set, Craviotto found herself up 5-1 in the second set to Lizzy Schiller, but a tiebreak went the way of the Missionaries as Schiller won 6-3, 7-6 (5).

Pacific will wrap up its eastern Washington road trip on Saturday as they travel north to defending NWC champion Whitworth.
