SPOKANE, Wash. – A pair of solid victories from the top two doubles flights was not enough to pull Pacific through against the defending Northwest Conference champions Saturday as the Boxers dropped a 6-3 women's tennis match to Whitworth at the Scotford Tennis Center.

The Boxers (4-3, 3-3 NWC) came of the doubles flights in control with a 2-1 lead.  Cathlene Goya (Sr., Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Megan Yoshimoto (Sr., Mililani, Hawaii) ran their doubles record to 4-3 on the season with a hard-fought 8-6 victory over Alli Marshall and Erica Bosman in the No. 1 flight.

The tandem of Lillian Do (Fr., Beaverton, Ore.) and Kelsey Trujillo (So., Honolulu, Hawaii) added an 8-3 win over Megan Wingfield and Jessi Steele at No. 2 to improve their record to a season-best 5-2 on the year.  Rachel Mizuno (Jr., Mililani, Hawaii) and Amber Craviotto (Fr., Eugene, Ore.) dropped 8-0 to Srayn Mooney and Claire Hemming at No. 3.

Goya won what proved to be the Boxers' only singles match of the day, taking a 6-3, 6-3 win over Marshall at No. 1 to run her record to 5-2 of the season.  Bosman took down Yoshimoto at No. 2, 6-1, 6-1, while Mooney was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Mizuno.

The Pirates (4-1, 3-0 NWC) secured the win with three solid victories in the lower three flights.  Wingfield notched a 6-2, 6-4 win over Trujillo at No. 4 and Steele was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Do at No. 5.  Siri Carlson closed it out with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Kelsey Lack (So., Mililani, Hawaii) at No. 6.

Pacific returns to action with one road match next week as the Boxers travel to Tacoma to host Pacific Lutheran.
