Knights Move Past Boxers in Season Opener
Box Score
PORTLAND, Ore.- Jorge Mandujano (Jr., Cornelius, Ore.) made the most of his return to the pitch after a year lost to injury Friday night, scoring Pacific's only goal as the Boxers lost to Warner Pacific 3-1 in the 2012 men's soccer season opener at David Douglas High School.
Mandujano scored off of a free kick from just outside the penalty area in the 72nd minute, accounting for the Boxers' only score despite outshooting the Knights 11-9 and limiting their opponent to just four shots on goal.
Alberto Casas opened scoring for the Knights (1-2-0) in the seventh minute, scoring on a high lofting crossing pass from Jameson Jones in what proved to be the only goal of the opening stanza. Casas made it a 2-0 Warner Pacific lead in the 57th minute, connecting off a long cross by Brandon Tatum. The Knights' insurance goal came by way of an own goal by the Boxers in the 75th minute.
Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore) took the loss in the net for the Boxers, collecting one save through the 90 minutes.
