Boxers, Bulldogs Tie in Season Opener

REDLANDS, Calif.- Pacific's women's soccer team opened the 2012 season with a 2-2 tie with Redlands Friday evening at Ted Runner Stadium.
Kaitlyn Harper (Sr., Beavercreek, Ore.) opened scoring for the Boxers in the 24th minute off a cross from Kamryn Plechot (So., La Palma, Calif.), making her Boxer debut, and firing into the back of the net.
Redlands scored both of their goals in a 10-minute span in the second half. Rheana Bales connected from Meghan King to the bottom right side of the goal in the 65th minute. A little less than eight minutes later Meghan King would connect by herself for a 2-1 Bulldogs' lead.
The Boxers did not see much offensive action in the second half until Kailee Green (So., Hillsboro, Ore.) found the goal in the 76th minute to tie the game up and force the game into overtime.
Sarah Tuffey (Sr., Valencia, Calif.) led the Boxers with two shots, while Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) shut down the Bulldogs 11 times. The Boxers had limited offense through 90 minutes, recording only seven shots.
The Boxers will take Saturday off and will wrap-up their California trip on Sunday against Whittier with match starting at 10 a.m.
