FOREST GROVE – A first half goal by Dani McMurray (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) led the Pacific women's soccer team to record their fourth shutout of the season 1-0 against Whitman on Saturday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.

“Dani is proving that she is a difference-maker and stepped up when we needed her to,” said Associate Head Coach Dane Joseph.

After a foul on the Missionaries, the Boxers took control in the 28th minute when Kamryn Plechot (So., La Palma, Calif.) threw in the ball, which deflected off Whitman goalkeeper Emily Davis back to McMurray who fired between the posts for her second goal of the season.

The Boxers had another scoring opportunity in the 83rd minute when Plechot headed the ball to the posts, but was saved by Davis.  Kaitlyn Harper (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) also had an opportunity to score in the 86th minute, firing from about 10 yards out, but was again saved by Davis.

“These women are working their butts off and did very well to not only hold off Whitman's challenge, but also create man chances of our own,” said Joseph.

Plechot and McMurray led the Boxers with three shots apiece. Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) (3-1-3) collected the win between the pipes, tallying five saves. The victory marks Hartmann's third shutout of the season. Davis finished with three saves in the loss for Whitman (2-6-0, 1-3-0 NWC).

“A giant applause needs to go to Emily Tuffey (So., Valencia, Calif.) and Anna Richardson (So., Napa, Calif.) for their intelligent play,” Joseph said. “Taylor Gillespie (So., Silverdale, Wash.) and Kaeli Laxson (Jr., Nampa, Idaho) were anchors in the back.”

The Boxers (4-1-3, 2-1-1 NWC) will host Whitworth tomorrow afternoon for more Northwest Conference soccer action. The match begins at noon.
