Pirates Score In Second Half To Shutout Boxers

FOREST GROVE – With only just six shots for the match, the Pacific men's soccer team were shutout 2-0 by a tough Whitworth squad on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.
Whitworth (7-0-1, 4-0-0 NWC) opened the scoring in the second half when Will Wren crossed from the left side to Samuel Engle, who shot from four yards out to find the back of the net to secure the Pirates fourth straight victory in the Northwest Conference.

th minute when Colin Shockman found him near the center of the box. Engle shot from four yards out in the center of the box, past
Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) to cap the scoring at 2-0.
The Boxers were outshot 19-6 with only one shot on goal. Their best opportunity came in the 19
th minute when Mark Watson (So., Clackamas, Ore.) fired but was saved by Whitworth goalkeeper Kyle Novak.
Mason Nakama (Jr., Honolulu, Hawaii) fired a shot, but was blocked by the Pirates.
Watson collected the only shot on goal for the Boxers. Summers (3-6-0) recorded the loss between the pipes, tallying seven saves. Novak claimed victory in the net, collecting one save for the Pirates.
The Boxers (3-6-0, 1-3-0 NWC) continue Northwest Conference action as they travel to Willamette on Saturday and Linfield on Sunday. Both matches will begin at 2:30 p.m.
