Boxers Fall To Undefeated Whitworth

Brittany Hartmann (Sr., Portland, Ore.) collected seven saves but was not enough as the Pacific women's soccer team fell to Whitworth 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Park Stadium.
Whitworth (5-4-0, 5-0-0 NWC) opened the scoring in the 35
th minute after a foul by Pacific inside the box resulting in a Whitworth penalty kick. Mackenzie Grow fired between the posts, past Hartmann for the game-winner to secure their fifth straight shutout.
The Pirates would cap the scoring in the 57
th minute on a header by Jackie Day. Aaren Sherpe crossed to Day as she shot from five yards out to the right side of the goal.
The Boxers only shot seven times in the match, but their best scoring opportunity came early in the first half, when
Lyndsey Watanabe (Fr., Waipahu, Hawaii) fired a header shot, but was saved by Whitworth goalkeeper Andrea Stump.
Kaitlyn Harper (Sr., Oregon City, Ore.) shot twice in the second half, but both were wide.
Harper led the Boxers with four shots as Watanabe added two shots. Hartman (3-2-3) took the loss between the pipes. Stump claimed victory for the Pirates in the net, collecting three saves.
The Boxers (4-2-3, 2-2-1 NWC) travel to Lewis & Clark next Saturday. The match will begin at noon. The Boxers will return to Lincoln Park Stadium on Oct. 6 and 7 to host Willamette and Puget Sound. Both matches will begin at noon.
