Second Half Goals Not Enough As Boxers Fall To Willamette

SALEM, Ore. – Alex Arrington (So., Portland, Ore.) and Nick Rudella (Jr., Sammamish, Wash.) scored the two goals for the Pacific men's soccer team, but was not enough as the Boxers fell to Willamette 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Ogdahl field.
 
The Bearcats (4-5-1, 1-3-1 NWC) opened the scoring in the 24th minute when Mike McGrew crossed to Yazan Hishmeh, who found the back of the net with a header shot.
 
Jorge Mandujano (So., Corneilus, Ore.) saw a scoring opportunity as he crossed to Arrington on a free kick in the 56th minute. Arrington headed the ball past Willamette goalkeeper Brayden Calder.
 
Less than three minutes later, Mandujano would free kick again, but to Rudella this time. Rudella would also score off a header from eight yards out to the upper right corner of the goal.
 
The Bearcats would go onto to score two more goals to take control of the match. In the 66th minute Adam Lewis scored off a cross from Trevor Jensen. In the 86th minute Austin Jacobson found Etienne Galbreath from three yards out to cap the scoring 3-2.
 
Mandujano led the Boxers with six shots and two assists. Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) (3-7-0) recorded the loss between the pipes, collecting seven saves. Calder collected the win in the net.
 
The Boxers (3-7-0, 1-4-0 NWC) continue Northwest Conference play on the road tomorrow, traveling to Linfield. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
