Rudella Scores Lone Goal For Boxers In Loss To Linfield

MCMINNVILLE, Ore.- Nick Rudella (Jr., Sammamish, Wash.) scored the only goal for the Pacific men's soccer team as the Boxers fell 4-1 to Linfield on Sunday afternoon at Linfield's soccer field.
 
After a blocked shot and a save by the Wildcats, Garrick Knowles (So., Roseburg, Ore.) found Rudella off a corner kick from the left side. Rudella fired past Wildcat goalkeeper Grant Lorlaux to tie the match at 1-1 in the 24th minute.
 
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the 5th minute when Jake Baker found the back of the net. Linfield (5-4-0, 3-3-0 NWC) would score the game-winning goal in the 30th minute. Tyler Sedlacek crossed to Danny Snelgrow who shot far from the goal to take the lead 2-1.
 
Linfield would score two more times in the second half to secure the victory. Brad Dupea scored in the 80th minute from midfield as the shot bounced off Michael Summers (Jr., Beaverton, Ore.) hands into the net. Less than two minutes later Baker would go on to score his second goal of the match to cap the scoring 4-1.
 
The Boxers outshot the Wildcats 19-14 with Alex Arrington (So., Portland, Ore.) and Ian Farley (So., Spokane, Wash.) leading the Boxers with three shots apiece. Summers (3-8-0) recorded the loss between the pipes, tallying four saves. Lorlaux collected the victory in the net, collecting three saves.
 
The Boxers (3-8-0, 1-5-0 NWC) will be on the road again next weekend, traveling to Newberg to face George Fox in Northwest Conference action on Saturday. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
