Marie Rewick's (Fr., Honolulu, Hawaii) 23 kills helped Pacific put together a pair of competitive efforts Saturday as the Boxers dropped their final two matches in the Cal-Lu-Fornia Volleyball Invitational, hosted by Cal Lutheran University at Gilbert Arena.
Rewick finished with 16 kills in a five-set marathon with No. 6 ranked Cal Lutheran, which saw the Boxers come back from two sets down to force the deciding frame. Pacific then faced a back-to-back situation on the schedule, with had them scheduled to play La Verne 15 minutes after their first match ended. Pacific played well despite the weariness, but could not overcome the Leopards in a three-set loss.
With the two losses, Pacific dropped to 0-6 on the season.

A 16-kill performance by Rewick helped Pacific push tournament host and No. 6 ranked Cal Lutheran to the brink, rebounding from two sets down to force the deciding fifth frame before falling to the Regals in Saturday's opener.
The Boxers played their best volleyball in the opening set, amassing a .161 hitting percentage and forcing the set to extra points before taking the 26-24 win. The Regals rebounded to win the second and third sets, with the Regals hitting .242 in the third. Pacific came back with force, putting together their best single-set hitting performance in the fourth at .222 and forcing Cal Lutheran into eight attack errors for the 25-21 victory.
The fifth set proved to be all Regals. Cal Lutheran smashed home eight kills and a .357 hitting percentage and limited the Boxers to three kills to take the deciding 15-8 final frame.
Rewick collected her second double-double of the season with her 16 kills and 11 digs.
Alexa Block (Sr., Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) came off the bench to finish with 12 kills while
Mariah McHolland (Jr., Renton, Wash.) had 10.
Becky Sheller (Fr., Gresham, Ore.) led four Boxers in double-digit digs with 27 while
Emily Farnham (Fr., University Place, Wash.) had 40 assists.
Kylie McLogan led Cal Lutheran (5-0) with 21 kills and 11 digs. Lauren Rohach added 18 kills and a 389 hitting percentage as Cal Lutheran hit .153 as a team for the match.
LA VERNE DEF. PACIFIC 25-21, 25-14, 25-22
Pacific struggled in a back-to-back situation, bouncing right back to play La Verne after their five-set marathon with Cal Lutheran. The Leopards were ready and took the Boxers in three sets.
Despite being tired, the Boxers managed to put together a .235 hitting percentage in the first set, clubbing 11 kills against just one error. The Leopards (7-1) were that much better, though, keeping pace with the Boxers to college the 25-21 win. La Verne rolled through the second set before staying just ahead of the Boxers for a 25-22 win in the third.
Rewick and McHolland each finished with seven kills to lead the Boxers. Block finished with six kills. Scheller led Pacific with 15 digs and Farnham had 19 assists. Complete statistics for La Verne were not available at the time of this release.
Pacific returns to the Northwest for a Wednesday night match at Concordia (Ore.) before opening the 2012 Northwest Conference season with a rematch against George Fox on Friday.
