Jensen Paige’s Double-Double, Boxers Suffer Loss To Bruins

Paige Jensen (Sr., Bemidji, Minn.) picked up her ninth double-double of the season, but was not enough as the Pacific women's basketball team suffered a hard-fought 61-57 loss to George Fox on Saturday evening at the Stoller Center.
Jensen led the Boxers with a season-high 24 points, scoring 12 in each half. She tallied 10 rebounds to go along with five steals in 36 minutes of play. She shot 11 for 20 from the field and made a one-legged three-pointer to be perfect from the beyond the arc.
Jensen's first jumper of the game sparked the Boxers to an early 2-0 lead, but the Bruins were right back in it, sinking a jumper. Two free throw shots from
Heather Hitch (Sr., Enumclaw, Wash.) put the Boxers ahead two. Bruins went on a 4-0 run before Jensen tied the game at 6-6.
The Bruins regained the lead and were up 11-6 with 14 minutes left to play in the first half. A jumper from Jensen and Sheldon brought Boxers within one with 12:38 left to play in the first. Another made jumper from Jensen put the Boxers ahead by one.
With 6:53 left to play, the Bruins led by seven after a made three-pointer.
Kaila Johnson (So., McKinleyville, Calif.) brought the Boxers within four with a trey. George Fox's Hayley Cusick sunk a jumper to put the Bruins up 27-21, but Jensen responded with another made jumper.
The Bruins went ahead by 12 with 2:14 left to play in the first half, but once again Jensen cut the Bruin lead to eight with a made jumper, heading the Boxers into the second half.
A foul by Hitch opened the second half for the Boxers. Justin Brenner went to the line for George Fox, making just the second free throw. Jensen cut the Bruin lead to six with her one-legged three-pointer with less-than-one second left on the shot clock.

Erica Colter (Sr., Kennewick, Wash.) sunk a trey to put the Boxers within two. A foul by the Bruins, put Jensen on the charity stripe to make the first, but miss the second, cutting the bruing lead to 38-36.
The Bruins went on a 9-0 run before
Alex Pfefferle (Jr., Twin Falls, Idaho) sunk a jumper to bring the score to 47-38. The Bruins went on another 5-0 run, but another trey put the Boxers within nine with 7:36 left to play.
A good Bruin free throw shot put the Bruins up by 10 before a layup from Colter and a jumper from Jensen cut the Bruin lead to six. With 2:46 left to play, Hitch cut the lead to three, but Cusick put the Bruins back up by five with a jumper.
A made trey from Colter and a good jumper from Pfefferle tied the game at 57-57. The Bruins went to the charity stripe after a foul by Colter. Jami Roos made two free throws for the Bruins with 57 seconds left to play.
The Boxers had opportunities to score in the final minute, putting up three shots, but could not sink one. Hitch fouled in the final two seconds and Roos would once again make both free throws at the charity stripe to end the game.
Colter ended the game with 10 points in 28 minutes of play, shooting 4 of 10 from the field and 1 of 5 from beyond the arc. Pfefferle added nine points, shooting 4 of 10 from the field in 34 minutes of play.
The Boxers are now 12-6, 5-5 NWC. They will travel next weekend to the take on the Whits for the second time. Tip off on Friday against Whitman is at 6 p.m.
