FOREST GROVE – Pacific received a trio of fourth place finishes from Shawn Speer (Fr., Battle Ground, Wash.), Michael Tyner (So., Aloha, Ore.) and Chris Harlin (Jr., Issaquah, Wash.) to lead the Pacific men's wrestling team at the Boxer Open, held Sunday at the Stoller Center.

Speer, who has seen competition only in tournaments this season, picked up four wins to place fourth in the 141-pound weight class.  He opened his day with a 16-second pin over Chris Salerno of the Western Washington Wrestling Club.  After losing in the quarterfinals, Speer proceeded to win three straight in the consolation bracket, which included a pair of first minute pins over Austin Clark of the Central Washington Wrestling Club and Deondre Sparks of Highline.

The freshman lost the third place to Daniel Leonard of Clackamas CC in 2:28, but not before improving his season record to 8-12 on the season.

Tyner followed up his big win in the Southern Oregon match on Thursday night with two more wins, placing fourth in the 174-pound weight class and improving to 8-12 on the season.  He earned a 20-3 technical fall over Eastern Washington's Gerad Shaffer in his opening match before taking a 7-4 loss to Southern Oregon's Reed Tennyson in a rematch of Thursday's dual.  After being awarded an injury default in the consolation semifinals, Tyner fell to Burnaby Mountain's Sam Sepehripour in a 9-2 decision.

Harlin also won two matches in his march to fourth place and improved to 6-8 on the year.  After falling in the semifinals at 197 pounds, his first match of the year at the weight, he advanced to the consolation by beating teammate Nik Streng (Sr., Honolulu, Hawaii) 5-2 before taking a 6-3 loss to Southern Oregon's Hank Turner in the final.

Allin Franco (Fr., Kailua-Kona, Hawaii) also went 2-2 in the 141-pound weight class, but did not make it to the placing matches.  Franco opened his day with a 13-2 major decision over Austin Clark of the Central Washington Wrestling Club and also earned a 10-9 decision over Western Washington's Salerno.

Pacific returns to the mat on Thursday for their final home dual meet of the season, hosting Clackamas CC at the Stoller Center at 6 p.m.  A live video webcast of the match will be available at goboxers.com.
