TACOMA, Wash. – After three straight matches posting solid hitting numbers, Pacific found the going difficult against Puget Sound Saturday night as the No. 19 Loggers buzzed past the Boxers in three sets, 25-17, 25-8, 25-18, in Northwest Conference football action at Memorial Fieldhouse.

The Boxers (5-10, 4-4 NWC) saw their three-match win streak end, finishing with just 21 kills and a -.016 hitting percentage.  Puget Sound limited the Boxers to just six points off their own serve in the first two sets.

Una Areta (Fr., Kent, Wash.) was the only player in the match to finish with double-digit kills, putting away 10 to go along with nine digs.  Emily Farnham (So., University Place, Wash.) had a double-double of 14 assists and 10 digs while Becky Sheller (So., Gresham, Ore.) finished with 21 digs.

Jordan Bird led Puget Sound (11-4, 7-0 NWC) with nine kills.  Jenni Brehove had a double-double of 31 assists and 10 digs while Jackie Harvey finished with 20 digs.  The Loggers hit .185 for the match, including a match-high .241 in the second set.

Puget Sound opened the match by opening up a 6-1 lead in the first set, three of the points coming on service aces.  The advantage soon became 11-3 on a Marissa Florant kill before the Boxers came back to within 12-5 on Farnham's dump.  It wasn't long before the Loggers made it a 19-7 lead.

Jamie Steach (Fr., Pasco, Wash.) would bring Pacific a bit closer with four winners off of her serve, which included two services aces to come back within 22-15 before the Loggers recovered to finish off the 25-17 victory.

The Loggers cruised in the second set, allowing the Boxers just one point off of their own serve the entire frame.  The score was 3-2 when Puget Sound scored eight unanswered points to go ahead 11-2.  Later, a string of five points off Brehove's serve and three Pacific errors built the lead to 19-5 en route to the 25-8 win.

Puget Sound again opened the third set hot, vaulting out to the 9-2 lead on a pair of Bird kills and then 14-3 on a Reilly Fitzpatrick kill.  Pacific wouldn't get a run going until scoring four points off Kylee Oshiro's (So., Aiea, Hawaii) serve late to come within 21-13.

Pacific begins the second half of their NWC season on Wednesday at George Fox before returning home on Friday to host Pacific Lutheran.
