Farley’s Second Half Goal Not Enough To Break Past Bearcats

SALEM, Ore. – Ian Farley (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) scored the lone goal for the Pacific men's soccer team in the second half, but wasn't enough to break past the Willamette suffering a 3-1 loss in Northwest Conference action at the Sparks Center on Sunday afternoon.
 
Farley's goal came in the 61st minute of the match after a cross on a corner kick from Steen Shober (Fr., Missoula, Mont.). Farley headed the ball past the Bearcat keeper Braydon Calder for his 10th goal of the season. Shober was ruled the assist, his first assist on the season.
 
Willamette scored their first goal of the game in the first half when Trevor Jensen crossed to an open Yazan Hishmeh. Hishmeh shot from six yards out past Boxer keeper Zach Cohen (Sr., Grafton, Calif.). Jensen came back in the second half to score in the 47th minute, shooting from 18 yards out to the upper left corner. The Bearcats added one more goal in the 68th minute when Jensen scored his second goal of the match from eight yards out.
 
Cohen (1-3-1) suffered the loss between the pipes, collecting two saves. Calder claimed the victory, tallying three saves. Nick Rudella (Sr., Sammamish, Wash.) led the Boxers with three shots. Willamette outshot the Boxers 14-8. Pacific took five shots in the second half.
 
The Boxers drop to 6-8-1 overall on the season and 1-7-1 in the Northwest Conference. Next weekend, the Boxers will play host to the Whit's. On Friday, the Boxers will host Whitworth with the match starting at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, the Boxers will host Whitman. The match will begin at 2:30 p.m.
