FOREST GROVE – The Pacific men's soccer team could not find the back of the net as they were outshot by the Whitworth 29-4 in 2-0 loss on Friday night in Northwest Conference action at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Boxers shot twice in each period with a new face taking the first shot for the Boxers. Jake Passas(Fr., Minden Nev.) shot in the 10th minute of the match, but the ball was wide. Quintin Love (So., Kailua, Hawaii) headed the ball for the Boxers' second shot in the first half. In the 14th minute, Love received the ball and attempted to score, but was too far right of the goal.

In the second half, Whitworth (9-3-2, 7-2-1 NWC) took four shots before they took a 1-0 lead. In the 55th minute, Sam Selisch received the ball from David Starkovic, who kicked the ball over the top of the defense to Selisch, who then finished from inside the 18-yard box. Eight shots later, Whitworth would increase the lead to 2-0 when Selisch scored his second goal of the night in the 71st minute. Will Wren was ahead of Selisch when he passed back to him and Selisch scored from inside the 18-yard box again.

The Boxers attempted to come back in the next couple of minutes, but could not get a steady offense going. Jorge Mandujano (Sr., Forest Grove, Ore.) shot in the 72nd minute, but Timmy Costa was there to save the ball for the Pirates. Ian Farley (Jr., Spokane, Wash.) took a shot at the net, but Costa was there again.

Whitworth could have taken the lead in the first half, but Boxer keeper Michael Summers (Sr., Beaverton, Ore.) made impressive saves to hold a 0-0 tie heading into the second half. With 18 minutes left to play in the first half, Whitworth shot and Summers made a jumping save to keep the ball out of the net. Nine minutes later, Summers came up big again making a diving save to keep the score at 0-0. Unfortunately, Summers took the loss between the pipes, tallying a season-high of 10 saves. Costa claimed the victory, tallying two saves.
